Here we will show you how to tell what model your Dyson Hand Held Vacuum is from a V6 upto the latest V11 model.

Dyson V6
The Dyson V6 has 2 filters a pre and post motor filter. The Filter on the back has a Max button to change power modes, this is how to tell its a Dyson V6 Vacuum, also the quick release button on the front is grey.

Dyson V7

The Dyson V7 only has the one filter on the top and no quick release button as the buttons are now on the attachements.

Dyson V8
The Dyson V8 Vacuum has two filters a pre and post filter and no quick release button as these are found on the attachments.

Dyson V10

The Dyson V10 only has the one filter . this is situated at the back of the machine and is a solid purple colour (not opaque),

also has a large forward sliding bin rather than the older bottom empty machines.

Dyson V11
The Dyson V11 is very similar looking to the V10 but the easiest way to tell the difference is the filter is opaque purple.

When you buy a Dyson vacuum cleaner, you would always optimistic and long for an extended lifespan. It is a fact that Dyson is a renowned brand with an excellent reputation. However, all vacuum cleaners are vulnerable to issues. When you have to deal with a problem, you must find ways to fix it. Here is some important information on fixing your Dyson vacuum cleaner:

Major reasons that make your Dyson vacuum cleaner less functional
Several reasons contribute to making your Dyson vacuum less functional or damaged. What are the most prominent reasons that lead to a drop in performance levels? The battery is a vital aspect. Some people keep their Dyson vacuum charged for hours. No matter how long you charge the device, it won’t last for the specified time period if the battery is deteriorating fast. If there are some filter issues, especially increased amount of dust accumulation, your vacuum cleaner may not turn on. Blockage is also vital factor that leads to a drop in the performance level of your Dyson vacuum cleaner. An automatic shut off feature gets activated when there is a blockage.

Battery replacement
A fully functional vacuum runs for a particular amount of time specified by the manufacturer. If there is a battery issue, you may find it running out of charge fast. When you find this issue, you should think that the whole vacuum cleaner is in a bad working condition. Insertion of a new battery is most likely to solve this problem. The average lifespan of Dyson handstick batteries is three years. You need to replace the battery after this timeframe to keep the device optimally functional.

Filter washing
If the motor gets faulty, you cannot operate the vacuum. A faulty motor can be an aftereffect of a blocked filter. This issue can result in unpleasant smells. You need to replace the filter to solve this issue. In order to prevent any filter damage, you have to wash the filter at least once in every month. After keeping the vacuum on Off mode (unplugged), you can take out the pre filter. The post filter can be removed after rotating it anti-clockwise. Use cold water to clean the filters. You have to dry the filters at least for a day before restoring them into the original position.

Blockage clearing
Equipped with an automatic shut-off feature, Dyson vacuums don’t work when a blockage is detected. You must let the equipment cool down before start searching for blockages. The first thing you need to look at is that vacuum cleaner stays detached from the charger. All parts must be checked to discover the blockage. If you want to get access to floor tool blockages, you should take out the base plate with a coin to loosen the screw. Sometimes, it may not be possible to clear the blockage with these steps. If you have to face such a situation, you should take out brush bars.

When it comes to cleaning a Dyson vacuum cleaner, you have to use a dry cloth. It is not advisable to use any cleaning agents or lubricants. If you cannot fix your Dyson vacuum cleaner with these methods, you can hire an experienced technician to get the job done.

Are you suffering from a pulsing Dyson Vacuum cleaner?

If you are experiencing pulsing from your Dyson vacuum it is more than likely a blocked airway somewhere. We suggest first trying the vacuum without any attachments / motorheads etc. If after trying this the pulsing stops then the issue is within the attachment / motorhead. So check the airway ways of the attachment for any blockages and remove any debris and retest.

If the above hasn’t sorted the pulsing issue you have now narrowed the issue down to a fault with the airways of the main body or filters. We always advise to replace or clean filters every few months.

when cleaning a filter you need to make sure it is completely dry as any damp whatsoever on the filter and you can wave good bye to a few pounds as you will more than likely need a new motor body. (we will happily sell you new filters or main motor bodies)

Remove the bin and check all the airways within the main body and remove any debris, refit new or cleaned filters and retest, hopefully this should sort your issues.
